Join us for Refugee Shabbat with guest Raphael Marcus, HIAS SVP of Programs. In addition, we will be celebrating Tu Bish'vat, the new year for trees!
We are proud to be joining congregations throughout North America for the HIAS Refugee Shabbat On February 3rd. This year, for the first time ever, the global number of displaced persons has surpassed 100 million. We join HIAS on this special Shabbat to reaffirm and redouble our support for refugees and asylum seekers.
Services will feature special music commemorating the Israelites status both as a free people and as refugees in the wilderness. This shabbat also comes just two days before Tu biSh’vat, the New Year for the trees. With music and text we will uplift and renew our support for refugees and the natural world.
Following services we will join for dinner and welcome special guest, Raphael Marcus, HIAS Senior Vice President of Programs.
