Thanksgiving shares themes with the Jewish festival of Sukkot. Both are autumn harvest festivals that celebrate the bounty of the land. Both celebrate the courage of pilgrims escaping religious persecution and searching for a Promised Land, a New World. Both are holidays of hospitality. On Sukkot, we welcome the Ushpizin (Aramaic for ‘exalted guests’). Just as Abraham and Sarah welcomed angelic guests by preparing a meal with the choicest ingredients, we welcome one another with an abundance of food, warmth and love.

Please enjoy this Thanksgiving Haggadah filled with food for thought and discussion starters for this season.
