Master educator Shalom Orzach will join Rabbi Zoe and the Saturday morning Torah group for in depth learning. There is a curious reference to the role of clothing in this week’s portion, Tzav. The Kohen, despite the dignity of his office, is tasked with something that seems almost counterintuitive to his noble role, he must take out the garbage! The ashes from the sacrifices. Yet before doing so, he must change his garments. Within this brief and enigmatic passage lie some remarkable lessons about roles, dignity, and what we choose to wear, both literally and figuratively.
