Join us for Refugee Shabbat as we welcome back, friend of Isaiah, Joe Goldman, Community Engagement Director for the Western Region of HIAS.
This year, Refugee Shabbat occurs as HIAS and the entire humanitarian sector face existential threat. Despite the potentially devastating effects of the suspension of the U.S. Refugee Admissions program and the subsequent stop-work orders, HIAS’ mission of over 122 years to help Jews and non-Jews seeking refuge won’t change. This work remains not just foundational to the continued safety and existence of most of world Jewry we helped resettle from North America to Israel to across Latin America, Australia, and beyond, but to expressing our Judaism today. Please join us as we attempt to fulfill the most elemental and sacred aspect of our tradition, “You shall love the stranger as yourself, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt.” We look forward to celebrating Shabbat with you! Please note that an RSVP is required to attend services in person.
Services will also be streamed to our Vimeo channel, website & Facebook page.
