In Los Angeles, 1 in 4 households—about 25%—are experiencing food insecurity. Families who were already struggling are being pushed even further by rising gas prices, higher grocery costs, and the overall cost of living. For many in our city, putting food on the table has become an increasing challenge.
Our tradition teaches that feeding those in need is not just an act of kindness but also a sacred responsibility. We are committed to live this value in a meaningful way by volunteering as a community monthly at OBKLA – A Kitchen with a Mission.
Please join Temple members and clergy to:· Prepare 300 meals and 600 chocolate chip cookies from scratch under chef directions.· Build community—both within our synagogue and beyond· Make a tangible impact through acts of kindness.
We suggest wearing comfortable shoes as we will be standing at stations for about two hours. Water bottles are provided and everyone is invited to sample the cookies made fresh out of the oven. You can learn more about OBKLA here!
