Kalaniyot: Planting the Seeds of Hope & Healing

Join us on Sunday morning, October 6th from 9:30am-12pm, for a community-wide project centered on the Israeli national flower, the Kalanit. The red anemone flower grows throughout Israel and appears every winter, sharing its bright red bloom in a season of austere colors and temperatures. Since October 7, as kalaniot began to bloom at the site of the Nova Festival, the flowers have become a new Jewish symbol of hope, healing, loss and resilience.Â

In solidarity with artists who have honored the victims and survivors of October 7 with beautiful and heartbreaking artwork featuring Kalaniot, join us at Temple Isaiah for a series of hands-on workshops that will invite our hands, hearts, minds and souls to find space for reflection and connection. Flowers may be taken home to add to your own personal acts of remembrance, and/or may be added to our lobby or sanctuary for Temple Isaiah’s October 7 memorial.Â
