Time: 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Event Type: Community
A spray paint stencil workshop with a Jewish edge. We begin with discussions about art as a way of expressing personal and communal identity, and Jewish approaches to art throughout history, before learning how to design, cut, and paint our stencils.
Artist and graphic designer Hillel Smith created the exhibit “Parsha Posters” currently showing in our lobby. Each of the fifty-four posters in our exhibition represents one of the fifty-four weekly Torah portions (two weeks in the year have double portions). The posters utilize innovative Hebrew typography, integrating the Hebrew name of the parsha into the illustration, along with a bold, graphic aesthetic to tell Biblical stories in a new way.
Snacks will be provided.
