SMALL GROUPS FAQ

Imagine small groups of Isaians gathering around shared interests, passions, geography, or curiosity. Imagine people getting to know one another, learning, laughing, exploring and experiencing together. This is the Temple Isaiah Small Groups Initiative!

Groups will be between 3-18 people. Group leaders will be fellow Isaians who will receive support and training to facilitate positive group dynamics. Groups will be time limited, with specific start and end dates. Small Groups are encouraged to meet at least four times. The frequency, dates, and location of meetings will be determined by the group. At the last scheduled meeting, the group can either renew or conclude.

Small Groups are an opportunity to try something new and connect with members of the Temple Isaiah community.

Small Groups are encouraged to meet at least four times. Each group leader has identified a regular day and time for their group to gather – you can find each group’s meeting schedule by looking at the groups’ profile on our website at https://www.templeisaiah.com/smallgroups.

Some groups will be meeting virtually, some in person, and some a combination of both. Each group leader will decide what works best for their group.

A Small Group consists of 3 – 18 people. The number of people in each group will be decided by the leader. If more than 18 people are interested in a particular group, we will look into the possibility of a second group.

This is the perfect opportunity to get to know new people in our amazing community. One of the goals for this new initiative is to connect with new members in our community that you may not have otherwise had the chance to get to know.

Some groups may have a small cost associated with the activity. This will be indicated in the description of the group. If there is a group you would like to participate in, but are not able to meet the financial requirements, please be in touch with Sheri Vinnecour Reynolds at [email protected] to discuss options.

When you sign up for a Small Group, you are committing to participate for the length of the group. We know it’s difficult to commit with all we have going on in our lives, but we believe making the choice to participate in these short-term small groups will lead to more meaningful connections with each other. If you have to miss a meeting or leave your group, we ask that you have a conversation with your leader.

When you sign up to lead a group, you will be required to attend an hour and a half training session. This session will review the expectations of a small groups leader, the in’s and out’s of facilitating a small group and an opportunity for questions and answers. Also, each leader will be given a coach who will check in with them throughout the length of the group, as well as be available to support them with any challenge that may arise.

Definitely! We encourage you to lead on your own or with a friend…whatever works best for you and will make you feel most successful when leading your small group.

While the groups do not have to include overt Jewish materials, the very act of getting together strengthens our Jewish community. These groups are intended to connect our members with one another in whatever way is of interest to them.

A Havurah was planned to be a lifelong commitment formed based on demographics. Small Groups have carefully delineated “on-ramps” and “off-ramps” with an expectation that a group will come together for just six months to a year, unless it chooses to continue and are based on interests.
