We are currently experiencing a Covid19 surge in LA County. Temple Isaiah strongly recommends wearing masks while inside our buildings.

UPDATE: AUGUST 26, 2022

As we have throughout the pandemic, we are updating our Covid19 policies to align with the CDC and Los Angeles County Public Health. As of Friday August 26, we are highly recommending that masks are worn inside and that all our members be vaccinated, but we will no longer be requiring proof of vaccine. Masks will also be optional inside Temple Isaiah buildings. We will continue to only have food service/events outside.

At this point in time, we believe these will be the policies that we will be following for all High Holy Day services as UCLA has also dropped all mandates for vaccines and masking. As you know these policies could change based on new variants or changes in infection/hospitalization rates in our community. We will quickly provide you that information if any changes do occur.

For those who do become Covid19 infected we expect that you will follow the required isolation protocol as outlined here. We also ask that you do not come to the Temple or Royce Hall if you are experiencing any symptoms of acute Covid19 infection.

UPDATE: AUGUST 1, 2022

Once again, we are watching with disappointment as COVID-19 cases continue to climb. The Omicron BA.5 subvariant of COVID-19 has become one of the dominant strains of the virus in the U.S. It’s the most easily spread strain to date and can evade immunity from COVID infection and vaccination. Because of this, masks are our best line of defense. We understand that LA County did not implement a mask mandate, this is our decision based on our desire to keep our staff and members safe.

The symptoms of BA5 are the same as past variants including runny nose, cough, sore throat, fever, headaches, muscle pain and fatigue. Unfortunately, at home tests, may not show a positive result until days after symptoms occur. We ask that you not come into the Temple if you are experiencing any of these symptoms.

Because of the current situation we are updating our policies as follows as of Monday August 1, 2022, we will provide updates as necessary:

1. Everyone entering the campus 12 years old and up will be required to wear a high-quality mask indoors, approved masks include: N95, KN95 or medical mask. Younger children are encouraged but not required to wear masks when inside the building.
2. Happy Masks and Enro masks are acceptable as they provide the same protection as N95s and fit close to kids’ faces.
3. We continue to require anyone 12 and older entering our building to be vaccinated. We highly encourage all other eligible children over the age of 6 months to be vaccinated.
4. All communal meals/snacks must be eaten outdoors.
5. Anyone who is experiencing symptoms of runny nose, cough, sore throat, fever, headaches, muscle pain and fatigue should not come onto campus for any reason.

UPDATE: JUNE 13, 2022

We have reinstated the mandatory mask mandate while inside our buildings. Masking outside remains voluntary but recommended. All of our shabbat services are taking place outside for the summer. Any event that includes food must take place outside. We also, are still requiring proof of vaccine for anyone 12 years and older to enter our campus.

As we have all learned, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic remains fluid and can change our lives and plans on a daily basis. What is true today may be outmoded or superseded by new information tomorrow. We must remain flexible and ready to pivot. Temple Isaiah continues to work closely with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, following their guidelines and ensuring that the safety of students and staff is always our priority.

UPDATE: MARCH 8, 2022

After March 12th in alignment with changes by Los Angeles County Health Department for schools, masks will be optional but highly recommended throughout the Temple Isaiah campus. We are still requiring proof of vaccine for anyone 12 years and older to enter our facilities.

People can continue to choose to wear masks around others whether it’s required or not for added protection. People should respect others’ choices around their health. Masks help stop the spread of the virus. They protect individuals, the medically vulnerable, and those unable to get vaccinated, like young children. They are the safest choice in indoor public settings and in crowded or poorly ventilated spaces.
