The Weekend FAQs

Where and When is The Weekend?

The Weekend will take place May 5-7, 2017 starting at 3:30 p.m. on Friday and ending by 11:00 a.m. on Sunday.

This year The Weekend will take place at the Brandeis-Bardin campus of the American Jewish University, located in Simi Valley, CA.  This 2,700 acre facility offers anything and everything you could imagine for an exciting weekend.  There are two rock walls, horses and other animals, an alpine tower adventure structure, a swimming pool, large grassy areas, sports fields, basketball and tennis courts, campfire pits, beautiful trails and outdoor areas, and so much more!

Find some pics of the facility on our Facebook page
Check out a Google Earth Pic of the Camp here

How do I register?

Registration opens at 8pm on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2017

Registration will only take place online through the link on our website page. The link is loacted on the Family Camp page.

Tell me about the housing and cost – is this camping?

This is not camping.  There are three types of housing available and honestly, they are all great options.  You can see pics of each option on our Facebook page, just scroll through the posts.  Cost includes all meals, snacks, and activities for the weekend!

$150 per child (2 and older)

Yurts

This year we will be offering 3 Yurts. Yurts are fabric tents that have electricity and bunk beds.  The bathrooms are next door in a bath house.
3 spots available
$150 per adult
$150 per child

SPECIAL NOTE – 2nd Graders and Up

For those who wish to participate, we’re excited to offer a true camp-like experience for all children currently enrolled in 2nd grade and up!  Your children will stay in cabins with their peers and qualified camp counselors.  This is for sleeping accommodations and various programming throughout the weekend.  We highly recommend you encourage your child(ren) to take advantage of this opportunity.  If you have any questions about this, please contact Stephanie Schwartz at stephanie@templeisaiah.com.

How is housing assigned?

In the first part of your registration, you will tell us your preference for housing (Conference Center, Semi-Private, Cabin, or Yurt).  Based on the timestamp and availability of each housing option when you submit your registration form online, we will send you a link to pay for that housing option.  You will have 24 hours to pay for your housing, after which, you will lose your spot and you will be put on The Weekend Waiting List.

Are there upgrades available?

While you may get lucky and receive a room upgrade at some point (aka, someone cancels their reservation and a spot opens up), the likelihood is very slim.  Don’t rely on an upgrade and just remember, we don’t spend much time in our rooms.

Can I pay for The Weekend with a payment plan?

If you would like to set up a payment plan for The Weekend, you must set it up with us by contacting Stephanie Schwartz (stephanie@templeisaiah.com) within 24 hours of receiving your e-mail about housing payment.  Some amount of money will be required as an initial payment within the 24 hours of registration.

Is there any financial aid available for The Weekend?

We have a limited amount of aid available, so please contact Rabbi Joel at rabbijoel@templeisaiah.com before registration begins at 8:00pm on Thursday, Feb. 9 to discuss it confidentially.

Can my family just come up for the day on Saturday?

Unfortunately, we will not be offering a Day-Only option this year.  We’ve learned that The Weekend is best experienced when your family attends the entire time and so we encourage you to block out Friday afternoon and Sunday morning and just join us for the whole thing!

Cancellation Policy

We understand that things come up.  In order to receive a full refund, you must cancel two months prior to the start of The Weekend, no later than March 5, 2017.  Cancellation after that date will require us to keep 50% of the payment.  Cancellations made within 7 days of The Weekend will receive no refund.  Please remember, we are not making money on this retreat.  We need to make sure we cover expenses and we want to provide the best experience to the most amount of people.
