SUMMARY:Shofar During Elul?
DESCRIPTION:Elul Beit Midrash: Why do We Blow the Shofar During Elul? \nWhy do we blow the shofar during the month of Elul? Is it simply meant to awaken us to thoughts of repentance before the High Holidays? A look back at the first sources where the tradition appears reveals a more complicated story. We will start with a brief introduction\, break into hevruta (paired learned)\, and return for a full discussion. Together we will gain a deeper understanding of the role of the shofar in our teshuvah process.

SUMMARY:Why is this Jewish New Year Different from All Others?
DESCRIPTION:As we usher in the Jewish new year\, we reflect on the profound impact of October 7—a transformative event in Jewish history that has reshaped our collective consciousness. We are not at the end\, but in the midst of a period of significant change for Jewish peoplehood and Zionism. Dr. Michael Berenbaum will explore the lessons we’ve learned so far and how these experiences are influencing the way Jews connect with\, understand\, and support Israel.

SUMMARY:The Humanist Religious Zionist Vision of R. Yehuda Amital
DESCRIPTION:Rabbi Yehuda Amital\, a leading voice of Religious Zionism over five decades until his passing in 2010\, articulated a vison that is in many ways starkly different from the political philosophy presently associated with Religious Zionism in today’s Isarel. It is a vision that urgently calls out for realization.
