The first session will look at Radical Rebels: Dorothea Schlegel whose shocking departure from the tradition took her to the forefront of the Romantic movement\, Rabbi Regina Jonas\, the very first woman Rabbi\, and Emma Goldman whom J. Edgar Hoover labelled\, “The most dangerous woman in America.” \nRabbi Tamara Cohn Eskenazi\, Ph.D.  is Professor Emerita of Biblical Literature and History at HUC-JIR and the editor of the award-winning The Torah: A Women’s Commentary. \nDr. Esther Blachman is an educator\, taught at HUC-JIR and is author of The Transformation of Tamar (Genesis 38) in the History of Jewish Interpretation.
