SUMMARY:With Heart in Mind: Mussar Teachings to Transform Your Life
DESCRIPTION:Join us in person at the Joan and Ephraim Sales Community Center or on Zoom.\nWe invite you to join us as we co-create a community of practice. Together we’ll learn about Jewish Mussar teachings through guided meditations\, inquiry\, and conversation. This program is an opportunity to regenerate\, and to live life with an awakened purpose. How do we impact the world\, and how is the world impacting us? How do we repair/heal the world? How do we cultivate the radical\, open-hearted courage that this requires? Each community member will receive a copy of With Heart in Mind: Mussar Teachings to Transform Your Life as a textbook for the program. We ask that you show up for yourself\, and that you will be an active participant in cultivating this community of care. This journey is facilitated by temple member Faithe Raphael Haimer and members of the clergy.

SUMMARY:Voter Engagement Postcarding
DESCRIPTION:Georgia is a crucial swing state that will help decide the 2024 election and recent redistricting near Atlanta has left many voters confused. Let’s help them now and greatly increase the odds that they turn out in November! Join the Voter Engagement Group in writing postcards to voters on Friday\, April 12 at 4-6pm in the Temple Isaiah lobby. Wine and cheese will be served. Or you can write postcards at home. For either option\, sign up here right away to ensure we have enough materials.

SUMMARY:Refugee Shabbat Services
DESCRIPTION:Service followed by Oneg and Panel discussion with leaders from HIAS and CLUE \nPlease mark your calendar!  At our Refugee Shabbat on April 12\, you’ll learn from two Southern California leaders\, Joe Goldman and Rev. Jennifer Gutierrez\, how asylum seekers and refugees can be supported and welcomed as they struggle to make new\, productive lives in our community.  Joe is the Community Engagement Director for the Western Region of HIAS\, an organization founded over one hundred years ago as the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society\, and which now provides support and services to refugees\, asylum seekers\, and other displaced persons from around the world.  Rev. Jennifer is the Executive Director of CLUE-LA (Clergy and Laity United for Economic Justice)\, an interfaith organization that supports migrants and low-wage workers. In addition\, Rabbi Bob Gan will join us for services to share reflections and to lift up the memory of Rev. Dr. Cecil L. Murray (z’l). \nWith immigration a more politically contended issue than ever\, it’s imperative that we continue seeking out ways to manifest the sacred teaching of our tradition:  “You shall love the stranger as yourself\, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt.” \nYou must RSVP to attend services in person. \nServices will also be streamed to our Vimeo channel\, website & Facebook page. \n\nVIEW FROM VIMEO\nVIEW FROM OUR WEBSITE\nVIEW FROM FACEBOOK
