Mindfulness through the Jewish Spiritual Path of MussarFriday, September 23 | 9:30 a.m. |
Friday mornings, August 26 through January 6, 9:30 am – 10:30 am
Join us in person at the Joan and Ephraim Sales Community Center or on Zoom
We invite you to join us for this 20-week program, Mindfulness through the Jewish Spiritual Path of Mussar, as we co-create a community of practice. Together we’ll learn about these wisdom teachings and the 18 soul traits of the Mussar through guided meditations, inquiry, and conversation.
This program is an opportunity to regenerate, and to live life with an awakened purpose. How do we impact the world, and how is the world impacting us? How do we repair/heal the world? How do we cultivate the radical, open-hearted courage that this requires?
Each community member will receive a copy of Everyday Holiness as a textbook for the program.
We ask that you show up for yourself, and that you will be an active participant in cultivating this community of care.
This journey is facilitated by temple member Faithe Raphael Haimer and members of the clergy.

EREV ROSH HASHANAHSunday, September 25 | 5:00 p.m. |
This year especially, we want to begin the High Holy Days immersed in both community and family. On Rosh Hashanah evening, our clergy will lead us in kindling the Yom Tov lights, introducing the sound of the shofar, giving us a taste of the meaning and melodies of the High Holy Days. We will gather as a community on the Vollmer Deck early on Sunday evening, enabling us to welcome the New Year among our Isaiah family, concluding before dinner.

ROSH HASHANAH Morning Service at Royce HallMonday, September 26 | 9:30 a.m. |
Rather than hold separate family services, we will join together for one large community service on Rosh Hashanah morning at Royce Hall. The earlier part of the morning will be especially appropriate for families with children, welcoming the New Year with joyful music and an interactive service. As the service progresses, the clergy will offer thought-provoking and engaging words and music, including the voices of our community, chanting of Torah, and the dramatic sounding of the shofar.
