Teens Do Social Justice and Change
The eighth grade has jumped right into learning about social justice and change. We’ve identified some of the issues in our lives, communities, and our world that concern us the most: education, disease, war, and many more. Through games, Jewish text, and our own experiences and stories, we’re discovering the wide gap between the World-As-It-Is, olam ha’zeh, and the World-As-It-Should-Be, olam ha’ba. Last week, we learned about different types of social change, like community organizing, philanthropy, and advocacy, and in the coming weeks, the 8th graders will start to explore ways that we can use these methods to make our world a better place.
