5th Grade Update: Accepting Torah

Here’s some news (and pics!) from Rabbi Deborah Goldmann’s Tuesday fifth grade class:

Our tradition tells us two different stories of how the Israelites came to accept the Torah.

In one story, God held Mt. Sinai over the head of the Israelites and asked, “Will you accept the Torah?” Not surprisingly, the Israelites answered, “Yes!” (Below, the left photo shows a group presenting the retelling of that story).

In the other version the Israelites really wanted the Torah as God’s gift to them. (Below, the photo on the right is another group presenting the retelling of this second story.)
