Subscribing to Calendars
Temple Isaiah Religious School uses online calendars for all grades and programs. If you received an email with a “Subscribe” link, you can set up the grade- or program-specific calendar to automatically appear (and automatically update!) on your computer or mobile calendar.
Outlook (Windows)
-
Right-click on the “Subscribe” button and select “Copy link” or “Copy link location” (varies by browser).
(Note: Do not click the link. If you click the link, the calendar will be opened in Outlook as a Calendar Snapshot which will not be updated if anything in the calendar changes.)
-
In Outlook, on the Tools menu, click Account Settings.
-
On the Internet Calendars tab, click New.
-
Paste the Internet Web address you copied by pressing CTRL+V.
-
Click Add.
-
In the Folder Name box, type the name of the calendar as you want it to appear in Outlook, and then click OK.
iCal (Mac)
-
Control-click or Right-click on the “Subscribe” button and select “Copy link” or “Copy link location” (varies by browser).
-
In iCal, choose “Subscribe” from the Calendar menu.
-
Paste in (Command+V, or Control-click and select “Paste”) the link you just copied.
-
Check the “Refresh” checkbox to have iCal automatically update your copy of the calendar when we publish updates.
-
Click the “Subscribe” button.
Google Calendar
-
Control-click or Right-click on the “Subscribe” button and select “Copy link” or “Copy link location” (varies by browser).
-
Open Google Calendar.
-
On the left side, click the menu triangle to the right of “Other calendars” and select “Add by URL”.
-
Paste in (Command+V, or Control-click and select “Paste”) the link you just copied.
-
Click “Add” and wait for up to a few minutes.
iPhone/iPad
If you received the “Subscribe” link by email:
-
Tap the “Subscribe” button.
-
iOS will pop up a window, asking if you’d like to subscribe.
-
If you tap “Subscribe”, it will set up the calendar in the Calendar app, and new events will be added automatically.
Also, you could do it this way:
-
Tap-and-hold on the “Subscribe” button in Safari or Mail or wherever.
-
Select “Copy ” to copy the link onto your clipboard.
-
Open “Settings”.
-
Open “Mail, Contacts, Calendars”.
-
Tap “Add Account…”.
-
Tap “Other”.
-
Tap “Add Subscribed Calendar”.
-
Tap-and-hold to paste the link you copied previously.
Android
To subscribe to the calendar on your Android based phone, you first need to subscribe to the appropriate calendar in the Google Calendar account that is associated with your phone. Since all Android phones need to have an associated Google account, this should not be a problem. Once you have subscribed, the calendar should appear in the native phone calendar application. (If your Android device syncs wirelessly to your Outlook calendar at the office, you can subscribe using Outlook – see above for instructions – and it should sync to your device.)
Blackberry
To sync with a Blackberry, first subscribe with your desktop calendar (see the instructions for Outlook, iCal, and Google Calendar, above). Then, simply sync your device (by USB, or wirlessly, if you have it set up that way) and the new calendar will show up on your device. If you use Google Calendar, you can use the free Google Sync tool for Blackberry. (Install it on your Blackberry and it will automatically sync your calendars from Google.)
