Tiyul: Shabbat B’yachad Director
Adra grew up in the Chicago suburbs and spent her summers at URJ Camp Olin-Sang-Ruby Union Institute (OSRUI) in Wisconsin. She attended Brandeis University and received a BA in Jewish studies. She went on to receive a masters in Jewish education (with a focus in informal education) from the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York. Adra has worked as an educator at Jewish summer camps and synagogues all over the country since college. In addition to working as co-director of Tiyul: Shabbat B’yachad, Adra also works in our religious school office on projects related to our school blog, parent communication, and our innovative new high school program. Adra was married in July to Jason, a PhD student at UCLA in the field of Jewish history. She loves singing, cooking, eating, watching TV, and cheering on (and then having her heart broken by) her Chicago Cubs.
Jeremy is one of the two directors of Tiyul: Shabbat B’yachad. He will graduate in May, 2012, with a master’s degree in Education and Jewish Studies from American Jewish University. This is his second year in the Tiyul: Shabbat B’yachad program, but his first as co-director. He has extensive educational experience, having worked in a number of religious schools, as well as day school and summer camp. When he is not influencing young minds, Jeremy enjoys eating meat, watching football, playing recreational softball, and procrastinating.

Lane has been a teacher for over four years now, having previously taught high school physics in Antioch, Illinois. He just moved to LA this past August and has really been enjoying it. Lane just got married to this past June, and his wife Allie (see above) is currently studying Jewish education and rabbinics at Hebrew Union College. His focus has always been to get students to ask more questions so that they will want to find the answers, rather than just giving it to them from the start. In addition to these things, Lane am a huge foodie, and love good TV and Movies.

This is Gilad’s fourth year with both Temple Isaiah and the Tiyul: Shabbat B’yachad program and he couldn’t be more excited to be back! Being with the program since its inception in 2008, he is extremely proud of how much it has grown in size, both in staff and families! A native of Southern California, with a huge Israeli family fan base, Gilad went to UC Irvine and graduated with a degree in sociology. When not imparting wisdom upon the minds of his students, Gilad can be found in either the kitchen attempting to master the art of Italian cooking or at a movie theater trying to watch movies in 3D without getting a headache.
