Hi Zoe,
It's a pleasure to travel in Swaziland with you. I can visualize the experience. I feel the sadness of the people and the losses as you have described. I can smell the fragrance in the air and imagine the women with their colorful headdresses. What an enlightening experience you are having.
I'll be looking forward to continuing the trip with you.
Regards,
Iris C

I am so saddened by what happened to these two girls. I wonder if there is any chance at all that the criminals who do this might actually be caught and punished. Regardless, the families have to face such deep challenges. It certainly puts our daily life challenges into perspective!

Dearest Zoe,

This entry was so incredibly heartbreaking -- unfathomably cruel and yet so gripping because of your powerful words. You chose a path for the first part of your sabbatical that was hardly a restful recharging of your batteries but I know you are absorbing the experiences for your book and life like a parched sponge. Come back soon, safe and filled with awe!

Hugs, Gail

Wow!!!!! I am almost without words........first of all, let me say that i am SOOOOO blown away by the fact that you are traveling to do research for your book...it sounds SO AMAZING & i cannot WAIT to read it!!!! I went to Kenya by myself when i was 28 & traveled for 2weeks with just a guide....Africa has & always will be deep in my soul, and just reading what you saw & heard brings tears to my eyes, but also reaffirms an understanding & consciousness that these people do what they need to do to survive & are very proud people despite or because of what they experience on a daily basis.....Our daughter Ruby went to Ghana this past summer --on her own--with a group of high school kids from all over the world-- to do work with kids in orphanages & clinics & schools...she helped build school buildings, teach the kids & learned all about their culture & life=style...needless to day, it was a LIFE CHANGING experience for her..I think once you've been to africa, for whatever the reason, your life will never be the same, and that's a good thing......safe journey!!!! xoxoxosusan

Hi! I think that you are right, that we should be honest, bold and confident. The Zohar emphasizes that the world is built upon mystery. I don't think the mystery is about what we want or need, but rather existentially why we are here. Why are we here? Perhaps the very mystery of that question, rather than its answer, is what fuels the engine of life! Blessings!

i'm just wondering...why conceal??? why not put out to the universe EXACTLY who you are & what you want ......???? i KNOW it works!! (at least the Stones think so....you get what you NEED)! I think if you are "hoping" that someone will "see between the lines", you're kinda setting yourself up for possible disappointment/misunderstanding.....xoxos
