Fair Food Committee

We often forget about the basic needs for sustenance and the health benefits of a proper diet. In September 2015, Temple Isaiah’s Fair Food Committee began initiating changes by introducing new ideas for a weekly Shabbat Pre-Oneg. The committee adopted the “ Five Pillars and Temple Isaiah Food Consumption”, which they developed alongside with Rabbi Joel Nickerson in 2013.
Since its inception, the Fair Food Committee has shared locally sourced seasonal organic fruits, vegetables and nuts along with freshly prepared hummus and feta cheese. Alternating food choices each week based on farmers market availability, as well as serving food provided by FOOD on Pico Blvd.
Throughout the year, the committee anticipates providing foods from multiple local farmers markets, sharing sources of farmers and growers with their locations/region where these foods are grown.

The Fair Food Committee is also offering to mentor other members of the congregation.
